A great pair of hand made cabochon cut garnet earrings set in 14K gold. Garnets are oval in shape and claw set into 14 carat gold mounts. Edges of gold that surround the stones have been scalloped in two layers giving the earrings depth and nice detailing. Tops of mounts have cut work on the surface giving it a blackened look. Garnets are translucent with a pinkish hue. Yo can see some naturally occurring inclusions. Measuring 1/2"(15mm) long x just under 7/16"(12mm) wide and 1/4"(5mm)high. Earrings are not marked but gold content has been tested. One garnet has a tiny surface nick which could easily buffed out by a jeweler. Dating to the early 20th century, possibly Edwardian these are a lovely pair of antiques earrings. Earrings are 3/4" (16mm) long by just over 1/2" (13mm) wide. Very comfortable to wear. Ear wires are lever-back type that close securely. Stones are well set into the claws.
