This beautiful one of kind hand painted game motif serving platter with nicely scalloped edges. It is hard to understand why studio artist did not always sign these pieces. The painting is just phenomenal with a warm lush northern landscape in the background and the golden bird family in various poses. It is a deep inset dish, standing just under 2.5" high and measures 18.5" x 11. I believe it was made by Limoges dating back to the late 1800's. In excellent antique condition. There are no chips or cracks, with just a little wear to the gilding on the edges and some very, very light utensil marks to the guinea hen in the foreground, normal wear for a piece of this age. This platter is signed on the back in two places. The first stamp had two initials but one has faded so can't make out. The second letter is L (Limoges) and stamped « déposé » below. The next stamp is circular in red with initials AC in the center, possibly the importer or the artist. A wonderful piece to display for a collector or bring out for a festive occasion.
