A charming Swiss miniature picture frame desk or bed side clock ca 1910. Hand painted picture of peaceful country side scene in Switzerland. The name "Idylle au Village" is written on the back of the clock case and that explains this painting of a very happy period of time. In this picture you can see a young dancing couple, a mother with a child, a man (probably the father of the child) playing a flute, two young people watching a dancing couple. There is a dog, chicken and a sleeping cat on the window...also the famous Alps mountains...The painting has signature on the lower right side and Swiss mark on the left bottom corner.
The clock has a Swiss 30-hour watch movement with an automation bellow the dial of cupid pounding on an anvil making arrows. The dial of the clock is very tiny, only 7/16" in diameter, and has blued steel hands. Cupid is made of silver color metal, and his hand moves when the clock ticks.
The picture frame set on a green onyx base, that has small nicks and small chips around the bottom and some corners. They are almost blended with this marbled green onyx.
The bevel glass in a brass frame has two tiny chips on the top left and right corners, that are not so noticeable.
Brass back cover of the clock has marks: Idylle au Village, fab. Suissi and number 72735. The clock was probably made for the French market.
Overall the clock is in very good condition and is in working order.
Dimensions: 5"L x 4.25"H x 1 3/8"D
