This is a very clean clock for its age. The clock was made by Wm.L.Gilbert & Co. in Winchester, Conn. around 1860s. The rosewood veneer case has a real nice patina with no veneer loss and has all original glass, but the gold decal on the lower glass is not original. It has a nice readable label inside the case with some oil stains. The dial has some chips and ware but looks very nice. The movement is unsigned, but looks to be correct with the correct pendulum. The mounting blocks for the movement have been replaced. The original mounting blocks have a habit of drying up and splitting very often. The 8 day movement has been cleaned, oiled and runs and chimes on the hour on a gong very good. There is a hole on back top center. I think someone put a hook there to hang the clock on the wall. Otherwise everything looks good.
