A wax and wooden angel figure (11 1/2") with a peaceful expression, pupil-less glass eyes in a downward gaze, slight smile and pale wax complexion. The hair consists of a flax-like material in tightly wound ringlets, adorned with a molded wax head piece that resembles a jeweled crown. The torso, legs articulated at hips and knees and carved shoes are of wood, with the arms and hands sculpted of wax like the head. An original costume of ecru silk is decorated with gold metallic trim, early lace cuffs and a lace cape. Possibly dating back to the 1840's or earlier and in impeccably preserved condition, on its original wooden base.
