Victorian repousse lion locket in gold fill. This antique locket is a very unusual estate find featuring the images of a male and female lion. The imagery is created with a repousse technique of pushing the design out from the back. The lions are beautifully detailed with facial features and main on the mail showing in a full frontal view while the female is in profile as if standing behind.
This circa 1900 estate jewelry find is in good condition with wear to the back of the gold fill. The mail lion has ruby paste eyes and a clear paste in his mouth but the female is missing her paste eye. Inside you will find both picture frames and two wonderful old photos. One is that of a beautiful young woman in a Gibson girl style outfit and the other is a baby. This Victorian keepsake locket has wear to the finish as can be seen from the photos.
