Our little antique banded agate snuff box or vinaigrette most likely had a bright silver wash at one time which has rubbed away to a wonderful time enhanced brassy patina. The top and bottom lid feature beautiful slices of red banded agate. The sides have an ornate construction with filigree open work and scalloped prongs holding the top piece in place. The open work is curious. I am not sure if a snuff would have had open work that is why I think it may be a vinaigrette.
This circa 1900 box measures 1-1/8'' x 1-1/8''. It is in lovely antique condition.
