Silver Filigree Wedding Belt, Early Twentieth Century Silver Belt......I have been searching everywhere to find another belt similar to this one and the best that I have come up with is that it is an antique Balkan wedding belt. I would safely date it to about 1900 - 1930. It tests to be at least 800 silver and is crafted with the most beautiful silver filigree flowers and bead work and joined with a black velvet elastic belt. The buckle measures almost 14'' x 1-7/8'' wide. It is about 28'' long with some stretch but the elastic is very old.
The clasp is a long pin with a filigree head that fits into the top of the belt. It's filigree work is divided into three sections with a small filigree flower adorning each section. They are embellished with tiny turquoise beads of which one is chipped. This belt is in lovely condition for it's age. I have only found a few on the internet, one was in a museum.
