Our Victorian Hard Stone Intaglio Cameo Locket forever preserves the image of Queen Mary......Mary Queen of Scotts. This Victorian heirloom keepsake is grand in size at 1-3/4'' x 1-3/8''. The stone is almost a rootbeer color and amazingly beautiful when held to the light. It is fitted with a gold bail that is stamped with European hallmarks on the bail and jump ring. The carved image of the queen is captured on the concave center of the locket and the reverse is set with the hinged door of the locket. sadly the glass is missing.

The artist captured Mary's dress with amazing skill. Typical of the Elizabethan era it features a high ruffled collar and detailed shoulders. She is wearing her signature pearls for which she was famous. She is also wearing a small hat and earrings. It is hard to say whether she is wearing a large beaded necklace or if the fancy work is part of her gown.

This estate keepsake is in beautiful condition. With the exception of the missing glass I have not noticed any flaws.
