Here we have a beautiful pair of circa 1910 antique paste pierced earrings. The desirable stones are actually hand faceted glass with a high lead content.
Paste stones have been in vogue since the 1600s. Beloved for their unique refractive qualities paste almost replaced diamonds during the 1800's. Their silvery gray to white sheen is especially beautiful in candle light.
This pair suspends from their original kidney shaped ear wires which are hallmarked 10K along with a makers mark. The 4mm stones are set by 6 prongs in their open backed settings. They enhance the 5/8'' x 3/8'' drop beautifully. Age appropriate wear.
