here we have an endearing and rare English Regard ring. It is hallmarked on the inner band with a lower case r as a date mark which I believe to represent circa 1870, 15 625 for gold content. 15 carat gold was only produced for a short time in England. This higher carat gold is fragile and not many pieces have survived. A worthy and very dear piece that is sure to find a place in your heart. This very splendid keepsake dates to the Victorian era. A treasure to behold that is very much about romance and the sentiment of the Victorian era. The paste stones are set to convey feelings of love and interest. Regard is spelled out with the Paste in colors of Ruby Emerald Garnet Amethyst unknown and Diamond. The unknown stone appears to be an aqua, it takes the place of what should be a ruby. We can only guess as to it's meaning. A replacement or a deeper secret.
The prong set paste stones are embellished by pretty scroll work at the sides and delicate chasings on the band. It measures just over a 9-1/4 and is very thin. As can be expected it exhibits age appropriate wear. At almost 150 years old this ring has wear and smoothing to the stones and mount.
