Stavre Gregor Panis (1889 - 1974) and his wife Gladys Hamilton Panis (1900 - 2001) were silversmiths and jewelers from Cape Cod Massachusetts. Their jewelry is outstanding. Intricately pierced and chased depicting arts & Crafts style nature designs and geometric forms. Their jewelry is highly sought by collectors.
This precious example is a circular pin that measures 1-5/8'' in diameter. The solid Sterling silver pin is crafted with a slight dome. Ivy leaves and tiny flowers embellish this hard to find collectible. It is hallmarked Sterling along with a makers mark of SGP in a triangle. No flaws to mention.
The pin closes with a hinged pin stick and safety catch closer. It is very hard to date this vintage estate find. I have found no indication that the maker mark changed over the years.
Pieces of American Silver are fantastic treasures that make prized possessions. The story of the life of Stavre and Gladys can be found online. It is very interesting and well worth reading.
