Victorian embroidered thread satchel , sewing box. This beautifully embroidered thread holder was purchased as part of an auction lot that came from a historical society from New York State. It was given to Edith Carpenter by Hannah Carpenter May 24 1883. There is a note but I am not sure if it was re written. Both the case and note have the historical society's catalog numbers. In the note Hannah is asking Edith to visit because she has been ill. She hopes she will have the case to remember her by when she is gone forever.

The case has some wear but retains beautiful ribbon work flowers and metallic trim. It measures 7.5'' x eight and seven eighths of an inch. I would consider it fragile. The note will remain tucked inside.
