This is a very vibrant and colorful D&C Limoges jardiniere that sits prettily on the plinth. The artist has painted rich orange/red Poppies with their strong jagged leaves, slender stems and unopened buds; all around the circumference of the jardiniere. The black stamens are a start contrast to the reds of the poppies and all are painted against a lovely blended background of soft yellow, green & some blue. The bottom of the jardiniere has an irregular dark forest green border; which is quite interesting and dramatic. The upper rim is painted in gold as is the base that it sits on.
The jardiniere stands 5 1/2" tall, almost 8" across it's widest width and has a circumference of 25" around. The plinth/base stands 2" tall and about 7 1/4" across it's widest width. Together, this set stands 7 1/4" tall.
Both pieces are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or hairlines. The painting is colorful and captivating; the colors are gorgeous.
The jardiniere is marked with Delinieres & Co. mark 1, circa 1870's. The base is unmarked.
