This is an excellent Limoges pillow vase that is exquisitely hand painted by the artist. The artist has made a center medallion accented with raised paste turquoise "jewels"; each surrounded by intricate raised gold beading. Inside the centerpiece is a gorgeous 19th century woman of high establishment. The lady is wearing a gauzy blue gown accented with a corsage of roses and a silky blue scarf above her blond curls. The medallion is surrounded by cherubs, roses and their leaves and yellow and blue ribbons. There is alot of detail in this painting; some of it may be high quality transfer, but most of it looks to be hand painted. On the opposite side is a delicate garland of roses with their greenery. The ornate, curving handles and upper rim are accented with gold.
The vase stands about 6 3/4" high and 8 1/4" wide across it's widest width including handles.
It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or hairlines. There is minor rubbing to the gold on the rim from handling over the years. This is an exquisite piece - certainly a one of a kind.
It is marked with Pouyat mark 5 on the bottom; 1893 and after.
