This lovely Limoges vase is a very handsome mold with it's ornate double handles and graceful body. The artist has initialed and dated on the bottom - R.M.B., 1902. The artist has painted one of the gardeners favorite bulbs - the magnificent iris. The front of the vase shows purple irises with yellow accenting and the back shows purple and white irises. The irises are shown on their tall, study stems and surrounded by their sword like leaves. The handles are painted in gold along with a thin line of gold on the upper rim.
The vase stands 8 1/2" tall. This mold is usually seen in a bigger size; I think this size is harder to find and more special.
The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or hairlines. The thin line of gold on the rim shows some rubbing; but the handles look solid and rich.
This vase is definitely a Limoges mold; it is more often seen unmarked (as this one is) than marked. Early 1900's.
