This is a gorgeous T&V Limoges Biscuit or Cracker jar that is beautifully initialed & dated by the artist - A.J.D. 1889. The artist has painted fat, large yellow roses in an impressionistic style, with their thorny branches, leaves and spent buds. The flowers carry over onto the lid which has a "bamboo" shaped handle, reflective of the Japanese influence over porcelain at that time. This is a beautiful piece, painted very well with strong colors.
The jar stands a little over 8" tall.
It is in remarkable condition for an item of this age with no chips, cracks or hairlines - just some rubbing to the gold on the underneath of the handle where it was grasped so many times over the years.
It is marked with Tressemann & Vogt mark 4a. 1889.
