This is a marvelous and very old Limoges factory decorated Ginger Jar that is in near mint condition - it is hard enough to find an intact Ginger Jar as it is, let alone one with the inner lid still very much intact. This beauty is artistically painted with wild roses outlined in gold. They are shown with their draping leaves and graceful, dropping petals. The design goes from the body of the jar, upwards onto the lid in a flowing sequence. The background is a handsome almond white with sponged gold accenting on the bottom of the lid.
The Ginger Jar stands 5" tall and has a body circumference of 13" around.
As lovely as this beauty is, it's condition is just as impressive. Both lids are entirely intact as is the gold outlining the petals and stems. No chips, cracks or hairlines; just some slight rubbing to the almond area.
It is marked with Gerard, Dufraisseix & Morel mark 1, 1882-1890.
