A set of antique French shoe buckles that are trimmed with cut steel stones. We see navette and round faceted stones in a four row design around the outside of each buckle. The interior has black velvety fabric which makes the overall look very elegant. In Victorian times, flashy accessories were sometimes referred to as conceits or ornamental conceits. The term being of the French and meaning to enhance one's stature through appearance or fashion.
Marked made in France on the backside loop. The metal frame is a silver tone and very heavy! Each measures 2 1/8 inches long and 1 3/4 inches wide.
All stones are present and accounted for. They are in wonderful antique condition!
