An antique porcelain cracker jar that shows a chain of hearts decoration. We see garlands of flowers stringing the hearts together. There is a thick gold band with a Greek key design on both jar and lid. The rim and base of jar have a fancy ruffled rim.
Hallmarked by MZ Austria which is stands for the Moritz Zdekauer factory that was located in Altrohlau, Austria. This is instrumental in helping us date this lovely cracker jar to the late 1890s.
Dish is approx. 9 inches handle to handle, stands 4 inches tall and approx. 6 inches in height including knob on lid. We find a bit of decoration and gold wear due to age. We also see damage at the rim in one spot that results in two chips. Because of the decorative rim, these are not pronounced. The price does reflect the condition.
