An antique chocolate pot set that features a white magnolia decoration. The white magnolias have orange centers and green leaves. We see gold foil decoration as well as hand painted gold accents. We also find hand enameling on the flower transfer decoration. The finish is a mix of satin glaze and high gloss glaze which is very unusual.
The saucers are hallmarked with Silesia stamp that was used by K. Steinmann in Tiefenfurth, Germany. This set dates to the mid to late c. 1890s. This is fine, soft paste porcelain and extremely delicate which tells us that this has been treasured and well taken care of.
The chocolate pot measures 9 inches tall to the top of the finial on the lid. The cups are 3 inches tall and the saucers are 4 inches in diameter. We see some gold wear; especially on handles. We have 2 cups with fleabites and a saucer with a flake on the underside of the rim. We have pictured these pieces together and as you can see, this is minimal for the age of this set. The pricing does reflect the minimal damage and gold loss.
