A Victorian silver match safe or vesta that features an ornate rim and etched flowers. We find the striker sits at the bottom of the case. The front has roses and intricate leaf decoration etched into the silver. The edge is irregular and shows swirls and curly cues indicative of the Art Nouveau style.
We did not find a manufacturers mark on this but we do see Sterling stamped on the interior lid rim. We would date to the 1890s for a time period.
Measuring 2 1/2 inches long and 1 3/8 inches wide. We see faint initials etched on the back of JB and a few dings to the silver. The lid is in perfect order.
