An antique porcelain cheese dish featuring a scrolled mold. The lid is shaped to hold a large wedge of cheese. We see transfer prints of flowers decorating the top and base. There is an air hole just under the handle of the lid to allow the cheese to breath. The porcelain is finished with a nice shiny glaze.
Although unmarked, we have seen enough Victorian porcelain to identify this as German. We would date prior to 1898 when items were required to have stamps of origin.
The tallest area measures 7 inches. The under plate measures 9 inches long by 6 inches wide. We see a few nicks on the underside of the plate which are very small. Other than that, this is in fine condition without crazing or breakage.
