A vintage tanzanite ring that has faceted channel set stones in a 14K gold setting. There are three rows of 15 oval cut lavender stones with each stone measuring approximately 8mm long. The band has fretwork on the sides and down the shank. Since tanzanite is brittle, the channel set style helps protect the stones. This looks to be an artisan piece and there is probably not another one like it.
Hallmarked with 14K on inside of the band tells us the gold purity. We do not find any manufacturers markings. Tanzanite is named after the African state of Tanzania; the only place in the world where it has been found.
Measuring a generous 8 1/2 on our ring stick, we find some light scratching on the gold. This could easily be polished by a professional jeweler. The style lends this to either a man or woman's ring.
