An antique porcelain chocolate pot that features calla lilies as decoration. The white lilies have orange centers that have been highlighted with gold detailing around the leaves. The main color of each piece is white with hues of purple and dark green. The handles have cut out detailing and the rims are sponged with gold. We have two matching cups that come with the pot.
The hallmark is a MW Co. and Germany. This particular mark was used for imports for the Montgomery Ward Co. and dates this set to c. 1900 or earlier. We have been unable to pinpoint a manufacturer. We can tell you that this is fine porcelain so it is definitely from one of the famous makers of that time period.
The chocolate pot measures 9 inches tall to top of lid and cups measure 3 1/4 inches tall. We find a spider line in the glaze on the bottom of the pot. This does not go through the porcelain. We have tried to capture this with our camera but it is faint. We find a repair on the lid rim but this looks to have been done prior to glazing at the factory. Pricing for this fine set does reflect the condition.
