An antique pair of opalescent white glass candle lustres with hand painted white flowers. The glass is a solid white with tiny bubbles inside. This is not heavy glass like milk glass. Rather we believe they are mold blown as we do not see any seams. The notched top rims of the holders have hand applied gold with most of it still intact. The clear glass crystal prisms are the heavier items to this set with beautifully notched areas and one flat side that comes to a dramatic point at the bottom. The tops are pinned right into the top portion of the holders as you can see from our photos.
Attributed to Bristol Glass Co. although these are not marked. We see a polished pontil area on the bottom. Bristol was well known for its opalescent, hand painted glass. We would place these in the late 1890s for a time period.
Both measure 13 inches tall and the bases are 5 1/2 inches in diameter. We find the prisms have little bite here and there but nothing that alarms us. The holders could be used for taper candles, pillar candles, votives or tea lights. These are NOT electrified. They are in their original condition.
