An antique sterling silver and cut glass traveling vanity set complete with original mirrored case. The set includes two crystal glass dresser jars with etching on the bodies. The lids are sterling silver and show a shield shaped area for monogramming. We find a few tiny nips off the rims but you do not see this when the lids are in place. The buffer and brush are marked with sterling markings. The cuticle pusher and pick look to have silver handles and plated ends. We believe the scissors are plated as they show a bit of pitting and wear.
The leather case has an embossed pattern to the exterior with silver toned metal clasps. There is a bit of age wear to the outside as shown in our photos. The interior lid is creamy satin with an oval mirror. The tools and jars tuck into a velvet lined bottom that holds each piece in place.
The silver hallmarks tell us that this was manufactured by Davis, Moss & Company of Birmingham, England. The markings also help us date to c. 1907.
Overall measurements on the case are 11 3/4 inches long, 6 1/2 inches wide and 2 1/4 inches deep. The jars measure 2 1/2 inches at widest point and stand 1 3/4 inches tall. The buffer and file both measure 7 inches long. The pick measures 5 1/2 inches long and the cuticle pusher measures 5 1/4 inches long.
Except as noted above, this set is in beautiful antique condition. It barely looks as if it was used. We love it!
