An Bohemian porcelain biscuit barrel that features a dainty ruffled rim. The decoration is hand painting over transfer of pretty pink flowers with complimentary branches and leaves. The center of the flowers and parts of leaves are highlighted with yellow enameling.
The blue circle hallmark on the bottom tells us that this was manufactured by the Marx & Gutherz Porcelain Factory and helps us date this to c. 1885-1898. This is their pattern number 1809.
Measures 6 1/2 inches tall we find this in wonderful antique condition with absolutely no breakage of any kind. There was at one time more gold on the rim and lid but has faded with age. Nonetheless, this is very charming tea time piece which can hold your cookies (biscuits) or small Biscotti.
