An antique hand fan featuring large black ostrich feathers. Each feather is attached to a wood spindle and we find a scrolled brass finger hoop at bottom for carrying. This would be perfect as part of a costume for Civil War reenactment.

There are no marks on this fine piece that would tell us a manufacturer. We would place this in the second half of the 19th Century.

Measuring 13.25 inches long with an open width of 18 inches wide we find slight wear to the bottom wood spindles and a bit of thinning on the feathers but no damage or breakage.
