An antique porcelain covered compote featuring hand painted yellow roses around bottom and lid. The pedestal base is chocolate brown with handles, rims, and lid finial lavished with thick gold. This is definitely a larger piece and one we have not seen before.
The R.S. Germany blue mark tells us that this was manufactured circa early 1900's when hobby porcelain painters were in vogue. The artist's signature appears on lid which is Thelma King.
Measures handle to handle 8 inches wide, opening to comport is 5.5 inches in diameter, 7.5 inches high to top of lid finial and jar circumference is 21 inches. This is definitely a larger piece and one we have not seen before. We have taken a close up of the rim area where you can see a tiny amount of gold wear. This is were the lid sits so is undetected when lid is on. There is no damage to porcelain.
