An antique brooch that features a large, faceted blue crystal center stone. The blue of the stone reminds us of the ocean with its deep, dark color. The mount is silver tone and has an open filigree design around the sides.
There are no manufacturing marks, so we are unable to attribute this to a maker. Based on the open C pin closure and design, we would place this late 19th century.
Measuring 1 1/4 inches long and just over an inch wide, we find some light scratching to the crystal but nothing that deters. We were not able to determine whether the metal is sterling or not. There is some patina which we have left alone. We find the pin itself is a bit bent but could easily be straightened by a jeweler. A fabulous piece!
