Antique porcelain tea strainer cup PH Leonard Austria
An antique tea strainer with matching bottom drip cup featuring a very decorative mold with swirls and raised designs. The strainer is has a nice forest green rim accented by gold foiling and hand applied gold detailing. The bottom of the strainer where it sits atop the cup and the rim of the cup itself are not glazed to avoid slipping.
Hallmarked by the Imperial Austria mark from the Bawo & Dotter factory. A second Crown mark was used by the P.H. Leonard Co. which imported porcelain from Austria. Both marks help us to narrow the manufacturing date to sometime between 1890 to 1908.
The drip cup measures 1.25 inches high and 3.25 inches in diameter and the strainer is 6 inches long and 4.25 inches wide. This is a beautiful antique set that has no nips, cracks nor issues. There is a bit of age related gold wear which is to be expected.
