An antique porcelain chocolate pot featuring an oval design. The front is decorated with muses portrait after the artist Angelica Kaufmann. We see her name just to the bottom of the portrait. The background colors are brown and robin's egg blue. There is gold trim on rims of pot and lid.
Manufactured and hallmarked with the Victoria Austria green crown mark tells us that this is c. 1890s for a time period.
Measuring 9.75" tall with the lid, 6.5" wide from spout to handle, and has a 4" base. It measures 15 1/2" in circumference at the widest point on the bottom. We find a manufacturing flaw on the interior of the lid and a few scrape marks on the brown glaze. There is also a skip in the brown glaze at the base and a bit of gold wear. All in all we feel this is in fine shape for its age and displays beautifully.
