An antique glass lidded berry bowl or compote featuring the charming Cupid and Venus pattern. Cupid and Venus are shown in an oval frame on the lid and base. Connecting the pattern is a striped ribbon with a wave and dot design. The rim of the lid has an unusual scallop design where each scallop has a hole in the center. This is considered a low standard compote.
Manufactured by Richards and Hartley this pattern dates to c. 1875. Check for the matching bread plate in our shop.
Measuring 8.75 inches in diameter and 8.5 inches tall we do not find any damage to the glass. You'll see straw marks on the lid and bubbles here and there. All part of the manufacturing process.
