An antique glass water tray depicting a scene from the Currier and Ives Darktown series of prints. This is known as Balky Mule and we can see why. The scene shows an oncoming train and a mule that is giving the cart driver a hard time getting over the tracks. We just love the detail in this piece. The rim is raised and has a daisy and button pattern.
Manufactured by the Bellaire Glass Co this charming water tray dates to ca.1890. This was also produced by the Cooperative Flint Glass Co.
Measures 12 1/4 inches wide this has seeds and bubbles within the glass commiserate with its age. We did not find any cracks or chips.
