An antique glass plate featuring a portrait scene in the center of Venus and cupid. The cherub has its arms wrapped around Venus' leg as they walk beside each other. We would call this a cake plate due to the raised interior and handles on each side. There is a lovely braiding effect on the rim.
Initially produced by Richards & Hartley Glass Co. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1875. It was reissued in 1891 by the United States Glass Company of Pittsburgh. There have been no further productions of the pattern. The OMN is no. 500 also known as Minerva or Guardian Angel.
Measuring 11.75 inches handle to handle we find this to have scratching from age and usage. We also see a few straw marks near the cupid. There is not breakage!
