A vintage quadruple silver plate bread tray featuring beautifully engraved wording. The engraved word BREAD in the center leaves no doubt what this would have been used for at the dinner table. We see a lovely open work pattern at the rim.
Hallmarked with Columbia Silver Company Quadruple plate on the reverse. There was a Columbia Silver Co. in Brooklyn NY but I believe they dealt with silver not silver plate. We have also read that this particular mark may have been used by the Middletown Silver Co. We think it is the latter and would date to 1930 - 1940s.
Measuring 12.5" long and 6" wide at the widest we find a few scuff marks but nothing detrimental. This is a nice vintage tray.
