An antique small tea set that features muted browns and reds with brushed gold on the rims. All pieces are very fine, soft paste porcelain with ruffled rims and dainty flowers. It is a smaller set which could easily have been used for a child. Another term used is a petit de jeurner translating to small breakfast set. This comes to you with lidded teapot, lidded sugar, creamer, cup and saucer and a matching serving tray to hold all of the pieces.
There is no hallmark on this item which is not unusual for 19th century pieces as factories were not required to indicate country of origin until 1898. Based on the mold and floral design this is most likely from an Austria manufacturer We would date to the late c. 1880's to early 1890's.
Measuring each piece we find the teapot is 5 1/4 inches tall, cup 2 inches tall, saucer 4 inches in diameter, creamer 2 3/8 inches tall, sugar 4 inches handle to handle wide and 3 inches tall with the serving tray measuring 11 5/8 inches long and x 8 1/4 inches wide. The condition is absolutely fabulous for such an old set. We did not find any issues.
