An antique double inkwell stand featuring a decorative cast iron stand. The stand has a filigree pattern with leaves and flowers mixed with swirls. The handle areas show the face of a main or animal we can not be sure. Each bottle is heavy glass with a ribbed swirl pattern and matching cast iron lids.
The only mark we found on this is a casting mark of 8538. It does not tell us what company manufactured it but we can date this to the late 1800s based on the glass and design. We have done research on the glass inkwells and some have said these were made by Fostoria. We are not certain of that but we are certain these are EAPG. The cast iron stand and glass inkwells make this a sturdy set!
The stand measures 14 3/4 inches long and 6 3/4 inches wide. The ink bottles are 2 1/2 inches square and 3 inches tall to top of lid. We see that one foot on the stand has been replaced but that is the only issue we see. There is some rust and patina. We did not tamper with the finish. It is a terrific antique set.
