An antique porcelain asparagus tray decorated by hand with American Beauty roses and heavy gold trim. The greenery surrounding the roses is also traced in gold. We find the artist signature of Gavin just underneath a leaf. This particular type of decoration was called mixtion; which is French for a mixture.
We see a factory hallmark for Zeh Scherzer as well as a decorating studio mark of Royal Munich. This helps us date to the 1890s for a time frame.
Measures 12 1/4 inches in length and 5 7/8 inches in width. The decoration around the rim has some age related wear but we do not find any damage to porcelain. We do have a matching platter with this same decoration from the same artist in our shop. We do combine shipping if you are interested in both pieces.
