A larger vintage cameo brooch and pendant featuring a seed pearl frame. The pearls were strung together first then attached to the outer rim of cameo mount. We see gold roping next to the pearls. There is a bale for the pendant and a pin for brooch. The cameo is hand carved shell and shows a beautiful woman with up swept hair. The pearl motif is continued with a strand of pearls on her neck and in her ears.
The Italian 800 mark on the back rim tells us that this is silver which has a vermeil overlay (gold coating). This has the original box that tells us where in Italy this was purchased and from whom. We see the number '1800' written on the back of the cameo in pencil. We haven't a clue what this is for; possibly the jeweler's stock number. We would place this in the 1940s for a time frame.
Measuring 1.5" long x 1.25" wide we see a bit of the vermeil is worn in places, particularly on the back side. Other than that, this is a lovely cameo that is ready to wear how you wish.
