A vintage Italian carved cameo bracelet featuring seven small shell cameos with different Roman themes. These are known to be called seven day bracelets. Each hand carved rectangle cameo is bezel set accented with a twisted thread of gold roping around the frame. All frames are connected together with two chain links. The closure is tongue and groove.
We see 800 on the back of the clasp telling us that this is silver with an 80% purity. We would date this piece in the 1940s for a time frame.
The bracelet is 6.75" long and in excellent condition with a bit more polishing of the silver to make it really shine. There is no damage and each cameo is firmly set within the bezel frame. All links are accounted for and this is ready to wear.
You can find this same bracelet pictured in the reference guide Old Jewelery 1840-1950, 5th Edition on page 380. There is also a description of each day as follows:
Monday - Diana Goddess of Hunting and Chastity Tuesday - Mars God of War Wednesday - Mercury God of Trade and Protector of Thieves Thursday - Jupiter Gods Father Friday - Venus Goddess of Love and Beauty Saturday - Saturnus God of Agriculture Sunday - Apollo God of the Sun, Art and Medicine
