An antique porcelain cheese dish featuring a wedge shape design. The lid is decorated with finely detailed floral transfers in a multitude of colors. Each side has the same decoration with the ends and top showing smaller floral areas. The base plate has a pretty ruffled rim.
This is definitely German porcelain dating prior to 1898 before it was required to stamp items with the country of origin. The only mark we see is a mold mark on the bottom of the plate.
Measurements: Base plate is 8 1/2 inches long x 7 inches wide. The lid measures 6 1/4 inches long x 4 1/2 inches wide. This is fairly high at 7 inches to top of lid handle. A few issues we found were damage to handle where you see a tight hairline crack on one side at the base and a few dings on base plate rim. We are not all that concerned with any of this since this was made as a utilitarian item and for its age we would give it an 8 out of 10 for condition.
