This fantastic piece is a one-of-a-kind work of art! First, this has been stamped in two places "14KP" for a higher purity 14K yellow gold - "P" is for "Plumb" or exactness. It is also stamped in three places with a simple "S". This has also been tested by two different jewelers to verify the gold content. It was verified electronically and acid tested as well. To say that the piece is well made and heavy is an understatement - 153.3 grams or 98.6dwt which consists of 5 individual 5mm x 2mm chains held together on each end by a 26mm x 3mm x 4mm bar ending in one gorgeous 31mm x 29mm x 4mm clasp. The clasp features a double cutwork layer topped with a raised floral design of two flowers with their multi-petals, a bud, and three scalloped edged leaves - detailed and lovely. This floral design at its highest point (center of larger flower) rises app. 4mm above the clasp. The two bars which hold the 5 chains can be moved up or down the necklace to change the drape. The necklace is app. 16.5 inches in length overall and app. 1.25 inches at the widest point. This is in very good condition overall with a little wear in keeping with age such as light scratches and a little light tarnish in some spots. There is one deeper scratch on the back of the clasp and a couple of tiny rough spots. The clasp opens and closes smoothly and securely.
This was purchased some years ago at a jewelry store in Savannah, Georgia. At that time, it was reported by the former owner to have been part of the Houdini estate; however, there is nothing to substantiate this but its fine quality and workmanship - not to mention the gold content alone - point to origins above the common and ordinary. This truly is an heirloom worthy piece! United States Postal Money Orders ONLY on this please.
