This old work is “The Kidnapped President” by Guy Boothby and printed by Arthur Westbrook Company. It first appeared with an English copyright in 1902 . This American edition should be circa 1905. This is a suspenseful adventure tale of a young English first mate who is recruited to captain a yacht for ten thousand pounds in order to kidnap the president of a small South American nation. There is action on land and on the water. There is skullduggery and treason. Our hero is a man of moral character who finds himself in a quandary regarding the integrity of his employer vs that of the kidnapped. Our hero has a fiance who stays in England through it all so romance isn’t much in this book, but there is plenty of action and even a twist to the ending..
