This beautiful brooch has the popular theme of the Victorians - the buckle. Indeed, it is done to look like a buckle accented with vivid Emeralds (glass). Scrolls, flowers, and edge beading add elegance to this timeless beauty. This is app. 2"x1.5". The glass stones are foiled and open-backed. The metal looks to be of brass that gilded at one time; however, the gilt is for the most part gone.
The pin works fine. The stones have some foiling off the backs. There is a crack in the old soldier used to construct the piece as shown in the last couple of photos. It could easily be re-soldiered or left as is. There is a bend in the stick part of the pin and upon close examination the pin frame looks a little bent in spots .
