A charming example of the older Masai Kenya tribal beads and carved animals, this necklace features 6 African wild animals with carved black and white Masai beads and a central bone Batik bead. The central bead is quite large and appears to be quite old. In the older style, this necklace is also decorated with cowrie shells. The wood beads are each individually carved. The animals include a lion, a zebra, a leopard, an elephant, a rhinoceros, and a giraffe. The necklace comes from an estate and I would estimate age at least mid century with the central Batik bone bead older. The over head style on this beaded necklace has an approximately 15.5" drop.
