Dating Meiji (1868-1912) Period, late 19th century, this lovely pair of Japanese Satsuma pottery vases have a rich deep cobalt field accented with fine gold stenciling. The cobalt fields border the beautiful diapered panel reserves of Bijins (Japanese beautiful women or Geisha) with children in floral landscape scenes. The bases are well signed as pictured. The condition is excellent with no damage on either. Each measure 10" high by approximately 6" diameter at the widest and 3.5" diameter bases. The detail is exquisite on this pair of Satsuma vases.
