This beautifully hand-painted plate is marked with the Davenport mark used on Stoneware from 1805-1820. Bird and Flower motif, beautifully detailed, this Imari plate measures approximately 9.5".
Condition is very good, however in trying to clean off the very old tape marks on the back of the plate a very very fine hairline shows up. It extends in the inner rim of the plate, not beyond to the rest of the plate and is nonstructural. I took careful photos so you can see what I am talking about. It is very hard to see if at oll from the front side of the plate. I have discounted the plate to allow for the faint hairline.
The very early Davenport trademark is in under glaze blue. A very beautiful and scarce early plate for any serious art, Imari, or early earthenware collector.
This plate along with much I am and will be listing comes from a lifetime collection of a very serious collector.
