Petite, very scarce, and lovely, this diminutive set will capture your heart. In my opinion it is a teapot set as tea was so expensive in the late 18th and early 19th century it was normally kept under lock. This set dates late 18th century to 1820. The 4 little cups are in petite mug shapes. The black transfer designs are lovely with both scenic and floral borders that continue into the inside of the little pot pitcher as well as the lid, and exterior. The mug cups have a simple black line border with scenic oval medallions. The set dates from the same period and are complimentary but with the different borders, they may not have started life together.
Standing only 7" high this Demitasse set is exquisite and in pristine condition. The covered chocolate or teapot came from a major lifetime collection of a serious collector.
